Helen needed to separate her home life from her working life. Using the kitchen table as an office meant each morning she had to clear away the breakfast things before laying out her work and then at the end of each working day she had to tidy it all away again. She had neither the time nor the finances to commute long distances or rent a premises as she wanted to be accessible for her children, while really needing her own space.
